Tahbilk Erik Purbrick Shiraz 2002

90+ points

A distinct Australian style, very different from the sweeter turbocharged Barossa Shiraz. Lower alcohol, more savoury, French oak. More Rhone like but this is still very different from the Northern Rhone it totally lacks the florality and the oak is more pronounced than most Rhone producers would use. This has harder acid too.

10-20 years ahead of it.
