A pleasant surprise. I’ve had some uninspiring Pinots from Chard Farm in the past but this is good. Rather classic NZ Pinot with nice savoury notes counterbalancing the varietal sweetness. A touch of stalkiness, moderate concentration. Very enjoyable. Drink now or over the next couple of years.

Like its stablemate Leoville Barton this is a dense concentrated wine for this vintage. This is even more brawny, certainly less expressive. Needs more time for its class to emerge.

Dark young slightly limey but some complexity. French and American oak, and the latter is noticeable but restrained.
