1 thought on “La Rioja Alta Vina Ardanza Reserva 2000

  1. A few months ago I tried a bottle of the 1998 Ardanza and just loved it, typical old-fashioned Rioja with lots of old oak aging. According to Alice Feiring who wrote “The Battle for Wine and Love, or How I Saved the World from Parkerization” La Rioja Alta was one of the last holdouts in Rioja making traditional wines in large old oak barrels. Your 2000 and my 1998 Ardanza still belong to the classic epoch. Only Lopez de Heradia who make the Tondonia and Bosconia still fly the traditional Rioja flag.

Then again, Alice Feiring has very unique tastes. In the same book she says that she has only ever liked one Australian Shiraz.

A good read that book, I devoured it at the local library and have to say that I agrred with her most of the time.
